Case Aides needed for Kerrville, Jourdanton/Pleasanton Texas locations and their surrounding counties (3-5 county radius. Part-Time, Service hours between 8am-5pm; Monday through Friday; minimal hours initially then hours will increase as our client numbers grow.
JOB PURPOSE: To ensure the health and safety of Adult Protective Services clients and provide access to available community services. Services include, but are not limited to, transporting clients to medical appointments, locating and contacting resources to obtain emergency assistance, and visiting clients to monitor their living situation.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Arranging for and transporting clients to medical appointments.
Assisting clients with payment of bills and financial management.
Locating and contacting resources to obtain emergency assistance for the client.
Assisting clients with applications for Food Stamps, Social Security and other benefits or social services.
Researching the client’s income and other financial resources.
Locating family members from client input, or by utilizing public records, court records, phone books, internet, or other sources.
Visiting the client to monitor the living situation and providing feedback to the Caseworker. This includes observing client’s:
physical appearance
living conditions
mental status
Exemplify a customer service attitude by placing the child, parent, family, lodge member and client first with every action taken to support our vision “That the most at-risk within our communities, children and those with chronic mental illness, have a real opportunity for a different and better tomorrow.”
EDUCATION: High school diploma or G.E.D required per TDFPS (Texas Department of Family and Protective Services)
EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years experience in a caregiver position a strong plus; experience with APS (Adult Protective Services helpful). 1-2 years in a customer service focused environment. Experience working with the Elderly and Adults with disabilities as well as other culturally diverse populations is preferred.
ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.
LICENSES: Valid state Drivers License and clear record.
VEHICLE: Must have daily use of vehicle and must have current automobile liability insurance that is in compliance with Texas law. Mileage reimbursement will be provided (.50 cents a mile)
OTHER: Must clear criminal background check. Ability to be flexible with schedule as required to meet business needs. Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must have use of a cell phone ($10 a month reimbursement provided).
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to clients served, staff vendors and the general public. Bilingual a plus.
COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.
DECISION MAKING: Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems.
